Opening prayer was given by Bro. Richard.
Those present : Jack Nelson, Bettye Ferguson, Nancy Cleere, Joyce Beene, Joan Ramsey, Leslie Schustereit, Lavinia L. Arseneau, Shirley Ellis, Harvey Sisk, Brenda Sisk, Margaret Mcmillin, Bro. Richard, Juanita Dean, Joyce Hewitt, Louise Phillips, Paul Phillips and Mel Friend.
The minutes of the last quarterly meeting were approved as read. Mel stated that the committee chairmen will be notified of the upcoming Administrative Board meeting and it is their responsiblity to contact their committee members.
The finance reports for the church, Care and Drydock were presented. The ending balance for December for Mims Chapel account was $8,041.04. The Youth Reserve has an ending balance for December of $1,327.24, Bible Study Reserve the ending balance for December was 430.34, the Building Reserve ending balance was $140.00 and the ending balance for Memorials was $2,480.00. The Care fund had an ending balance in December of $903.54 and the Drydock had an ending balance of $1,725.01. Juanita Dean made a motion that finance reports be filed for audit, Joyce Beene seconded and the motion carried.
Gaylor Tollefson will head up the audit committee with two others, Joyce Beene will help with the reconciliation of the church books.
Old Business:
Insurance companies were contacted and a representative from Brownrigg came out and reviewed our policy and sent a letter to the church evaluating what the cost will be for the coming year.
Committees:
Trustees: Jack Nelson will be looking into the insurance for the church. If any repairs are needed let him know. There will be a work day Jan. 16th with breadfast starting at 8 a.m.
The administrative board members approved the changing of Sandy Schustereit from Finance to SPPR and Leslie Schustereit being changed from SPPR to the Finance Committee.
Finance:
Joyce Beene looks forward to working with the committee. Jack Nelson made a motion that Leslie Schustereit and Jack Nelson add their signatures to the Mims Chapel account and that Louise Phillips be added to the Care account. The motion was seconded by Nancy Cleere and passed.
SPPR:
Nancy Cleere, chairperson noted that the SPPR committee met and had a very productive meeting, was well attended and a lot to look forward to in the coming year.
PRAYERS & SQUARES:
Nancy reported that all was going well. NETCU is now accepting donations for Prayers and Squares.
UMW:
Joan Ramsey reported that we had 19 today at the meeting. A lot was planned for the coming year. February 26 will be the annual chili supper. Tickets wil be going on sale soon and UMW would be asking for help. There are now 33 members.
Community Missions --Drydock:
Louise Phillips, chairperson reported that we had served 47 families in the month of January and they are now doing Client's Choice.
Stewardship has not had a meeting yet. They help to raise funds. Finance has to do with distribution of the funds.
Lay Leadership:
Jackie Hall noted how willing everyone is when asked to take part in the services.
Worship:
Normally the committee meets after the fellowship dinner but because of a special speaker this Sunday, Rick Goodrich, and an officers training meeting there was no meeting of the Worship committee. No change was made through this quarter. Communion with ushers was great.
Youth, Children, Choir:
Liz Hall reported that we are still looking for teachers. The youth will present a dinner theater on Feb. 13, 2010. A donation of two chairs for the choir has been given. Joyce Beene challenged that she would donate two more chairs if someone else will do the same.
Lenten Season:
Ash Wednesday will be on Feb. 17, 2010, Palm Sunday will be March 28, 2010, Maundy Thursday on April 1, 2010. Good Friday on April 2, 2010, Easter Sunday on April 4, 2010 and Easter Holy Humor Sunday will be on April 11, 2010.
Pastor Report:
A Young Adult Sunday School class has been started. The holidays have been wonderful. January 29, 2010 all are invited to attend the Isaacs and Calvary Boys in Marshall. Tickets are $12.00. The church van will leave the church at 5 p.m. They will be eating at Porky Pigs.
Bro. Richard will be going back to Mount Sequoyah in March. He will be going on vacation at Spring Break. Mims Chapel now has a blog set up by Brenda Sisk. Going out to lunch on Sundays is another way Mims Chapel is touching lives.
The next Administrative Board meetings will be April 13, July 13 and October 12 at 6:30 p.m.
