This plant is a member of the mint family. It comes up early in spring and blooms in April and June. It is also called "Heal-All" because of it's medicinal purposes. Indians and early settlers used the leaves to make an infusion for bathing bruises and burns and for healing cuts. It was also used for flavoring other medicines.
Self-Heal is also a favorite of the Clouded Sulphur Butterfly. Click on the picture for a closer look at these beautiful little lavender flowers.
"Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."
Psalm103: 3-5
Please remember to pray that the needs of the Haitian people be met. Ask GOD to heal them and be merciful and renew their hopes and dreams as they rebuild their lives. We also need to pray for all those going to this countries aid. They need our prayers desperately as they deal with all the death and destruction. May GOD be with them all.
