Mims Chapel United Methodist Church: SPRING CELEBRATION 2010 AT LAKEVIEW

History of our Church

The first religious gathering place of the original pioneer families of the community is said to have been at the site of a sunken boulder, next to which the first crude log meeting house was constructed. Because of this boulder, the first structure was know as the "Old Rock Church".

About 1871, a larger one-room frame building replaced the log structure and the name was changed to Mims Chapel, after two brothers who were instrumental in procuring the six-acre tract of land. This white painted, one-room church remained in use until 1936, when a bad list to the structure necessitated its being torn down. The new church was built from the same material, except for necessary additions.

In January 1969, the old wooden building was torn down and replaced by a modern brick structure.

Mims Chapel maintains its strong historical background , while striving ever-forward to help spread God's glory and kingdom. Praise God in the highest! May Mims Chapel forever be the "Old Rock Church".

SPRING CELEBRATION 2010 AT LAKEVIEW

Attention Ladies and Pastor:

Don't forget the Spring Celebration 2010 at Lakeview on Saturday, March 6th. I handed out the information along with the registrations at the January UMW meeting. Let me know if you plan to attend and have your forms filled out and turned to Louise no later than February 15th. Early registration (received into their office by the 20th of February) is $16.00. If later, a $15.00 late fee is added.

See you Tuesday, February 9th for monthly UMW meeting. We have a very special program planned.
