A presenation was given today in honor of President's Day which is a national holiday honoring George Washington, the first president of the United States and the "father of our country".

A beautiful prayer was read from his personal diary in which he wrote prayers daily. Washington had a vision of a great and powerful nation that would be built using federal power. He sought to use the national government to improve the infrastrucure, open western lands, create a national university, promote commerce, found a capital city (later named Washington D.C), reduce tensions and promote a spirit of nationalism. At his death, Washington was hailed as "first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen".
