It is time for a Red Hatters outing before hot weather begins. We are trying to schedule an outside activity.
A tour of Caddo Lake has been scheduled for Thurs., May 26th, 2011 with a ride on the "Graceful Ghost" paddle wheel steamboat. Lunch will be at the "Shady Glade Cafe`". The tour will last one and a half hours. Prices for Seniors is $16.00. They accept Visa or MasterCard.
Please contact Nancy Cleere no later than this week as reservations have to be made in advance. The van is filling up fast!! We will be leaving the church at 10:30 a.m. on May 26th traveling to Uncertain, Texas to take the tour and enjoy lunch.
We will wear our Safari hats for this excursion as it will be sunny and windy. We will be identified as a group for the tour. Please contact Nancy and make your reservation ASAP! It will be a great trip!

History of our Church
The first religious gathering place of the original pioneer families of the community is said to have been at the site of a sunken boulder, next to which the first crude log meeting house was constructed. Because of this boulder, the first structure was know as the "Old Rock Church".
About 1871, a larger one-room frame building replaced the log structure and the name was changed to Mims Chapel, after two brothers who were instrumental in procuring the six-acre tract of land. This white painted, one-room church remained in use until 1936, when a bad list to the structure necessitated its being torn down. The new church was built from the same material, except for necessary additions.
In January 1969, the old wooden building was torn down and replaced by a modern brick structure.
Mims Chapel maintains its strong historical background , while striving ever-forward to help spread God's glory and kingdom. Praise God in the highest! May Mims Chapel forever be the "Old Rock Church".
